Day 5...Discharge Dayyyy!!! (4.12.13)

So here I am at 10:15am waiting for my discharge papers.  I ordered breakfast and cleaned and packed my bathroom.  The nurse came in and said she will be back with a T-Dep shot for me and a list of appts so I can remember when to come back for my Dopplers that I get once a week.  She also said I should make an appt every two weeks with my OB...but I will be back here in 2 weeks so I don't see why I need to go see him.  Ok Seriously...It's an hour later now and still no shot or discharge papers!!  I'm so ready to get back into the Real World.  Why is it taking so long??  My husbands birthday is this Monday!  I'm so glad I get to be home for his bday!  I'm hoping to have a date night with him soon to PF Changs!  I have been craving it forevesss!  Here it is 2pm and still at the dang hosp!  I got my T-dep shot but am waiting on a dr to call back to schedule my weekely Dopplers.  The nurse said she is so sorry it's taking so long.  She will just call my cell to schedule the Doppler and now I am waiting on the discharge papers.  I called Jimmy and him and Ella are on their way up here to get me!!  3pm left the hospital and finally home!!  Home Sweet Home!! <3

Day 4 Down...52 More To Go. (Thurs 4.11.13)

Dr Goyert came in to check on me and ask if I had any questions.  He see's me daily but I have no questions.  Ordered breakfast at 9am just when the Dr came in to do the daily ultrasound.  She says the babies are doing well and are active as normal.  I'm getting a little worried becasue my belly is already so big and I still have 7 more weeks until I deliver the babies!  I look like I'm about to pop!  This is how big I was when I was pregnant with Ella at like 38 weeks.  I just hope the twins have enough room and do not decide to come out any earlier than 32 weeks!  So I took an hour nap from noon to 1pm.  Jimmy called then and said Ella and him will come up here shortly.  He said he and Ella didn't get any sleep becuse she has diaper rash.  My poor baby!!  It figures she has to have that when I am in the hosp and can't take care of her.  He said she woke up every hour last night and he took her diaper off for most of the night and gave her a bath at 2am and put oatmeal on her.  He said she was crying so hard it was hard for her to breath.  My poor poor princess!!  These are the times I need to be with her to take care of her :(  So good newwwwsssss!  My Dr says I get to go home and be outpatient for 2 1/2 weeks.  I have to come to the hosp every day for an hour to moitor the babies.  Then I have to come back to stay at 27 weeks until I deliver at 32 weeks.  I am so freakin Happy right now!!!  I get to be home with my princess and hubby for 17 days instead of being inpatient.  And if anything happens with the babies we will know because I am going to be monitored everyday for an hour.  Went to bed around 11 and woke up every hour to pee.  I woke up at 6am to the nurse takeing my vitals and then monitoring the babies heartbeats.  Then since they kept moving around we couldnt get them on the monitor so the Dr came in to do an ultrasound and says they are doing very well.  :)  Dr Goyert then came in and said that I will need some shots before I leave and that I will come back everyday at 2pm to get the babies monitored.  He says if ever I don't feel the babies or I start bleeding or anything I should be worried about just come in to the hosp right away.

Day 3 Down...53 More To Go. (Wed 4.10.13)

I ordred breakfast around 8:45 and it came around 9:15.  As I was eating my Dr ( Dr Goyert MFM) came in to check on me and see if I had any questions.  I didn't.  He said that later today they would be giving my a pap smear swab later to check for Strep B.  He says even though I am not delivering vaginal he wants to check just in case.  Booooo!  I hate hate pap smears.  So I finished my breakfast and took at shower.  I am part of this MoMo twins group on Facebook and I have make 3 new friends on there that are expecting MoMo twins as well.  One girl just had her twins 2 days ago at 28 weeks and are doing well.  The two others are inpatient just like me.  One girl is ahead of me by 4 weeks and the other by 3 days.  It is so nice to have support and talk with these girls as we are all experiencing the same thing.  There are so many others on the MoMo Twins page that are very supportive as well.  It's 1:10 and it's lunch time.  I ordered a Michigan Chef salad, an apple and my little slice of heaven I can have once a week...a mini can of diet pepsi :)  To pass the time I have been working on some Beach Wedding Shower invites for my sister.  One of the Neonatologists came in to talk to me today about the preemie babies in the NICU.  He told me some percentages of survival rate with and without impairement.  He says the first hump to get over is 28 weeks.  That will be major for us because then the survival rate goes up tremendously and the impairment goes down as well.  Then I got my vitals taken after the Dr left.  Then another Dr came in to do an ultrasound to check the babies and she said everything looks good.  She says she looks for heartbeat, movement of the babies, and breathing.  Then she did the pap smear swab.  Awkward!  Thank god it was a girl Dr, it made it a little less awkward.  Jimmy just called and him and Ella are on there way for a visit!!  My FAV part of the day!  So Jimmy and Ella came around 2:30 and left at 8pm.  We had pizza for dinner and just hung out!  When it was time for them to leave Ella started crying out of the blue.  I think she is catching on as to what is going on and didn't want to leave me.  It made me so sad!  I can't wait until this is all over and I have my twin girls and Ella at home.  It's around 9:00pm right now and I am getting tired.  So I skyped Jimmy and Ella and my mother-in-law Trish was over to so I talked with them all.  Then I watched Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol and went to bed around 11:30.  I slept from 11:30pm to 6am.  I didn't sleep well last night.  I kept tossing and turning and got up to pee every hour and a half :(  The nurse came in to do my vitals around 6:30 and then to listen to the babies hearbeats for an hour.  Then I slept for about another half hour and got up around 8:30.  I;m loving these rainy dreary days.  I'm not missing a thing!  :)

Day 2 Down...54 More To Go (Tues 4.9.13)

Breakfast got here around 9:15am.  I ordered pancakes with strawberries and whip cream with hash browns, hot chocolate and a cheese danish.  Again for hospital food it was alright.  Definitely not IHOP!!  Then the nurse came in and got me more water and gave me a prenatal pill.  I have my own but she said just put those back in your purse.  Then 20 min later another Dr came in and did another Doppler.  She says everything is looking great.  Then another nurse came to do my vitals.  At 1:30pm Ella and Jimmy came up to see me.  We ate lunch and dinner together and my parents and sister came up around 6:30.  They all had to leave at 8pm because that's when visiting hours are over.  Today was a much better day!  Not as eventful as yesterday!  Just vitals every 3 hours or so.  The day went by fast because My daughter and husband were here all day :)  Now it's about 8:15pm.  I have the feeling I am going to sleep much better tonight!  I have my pillow from home and a fan for white noise.  It was still sad when Ella left but much better than last night.  No crying this time!  And my husband hooked up Skype so I can see her and him when they are not here.  Overall pretty good day.  The nurse just came in to take my vitals and give me my other steroid shot in my other butt cheek.  Again the needle didn't hurt just the liquid medication stung going in.  My hubby bought me a turkey sub from subway that's in my mini fridge so I'm probably going to eat that and Skype my husband and daughter and then try to get some Z's.  Went to bed around 10:15.  With my fan and my pillow from home I fell asleep easier.  The fan definitely drowned out the noises of the nurses outside my room.  Got woken up around 11:45 to check my vitals.  Then went back to bed 15 min later until 5:30 when the nurse came and woke me up to monitor the babies heartbeats for an hour.  The babies are doing great!!  Then I went back to bed at 7am and woke up at 8:15am.  So this seems like its going to be my normal sleep schedule...I can deal with that.  Much better night last night.  It's already getting better staying here inpatient.  The first day was the hardest!  Another positive note is that it is April and it's been raining everyday so far and rain is continued in the forecast for the rest of the month.  I'm happy about that because I don't feel like I'm missing out on a beautiful day outside.  April Showers Bring May Flowers!!

Day 1 Down...55 More To Go (Mon 4.8.13)

Arrived at the hospital to be inpatient at 24 weeks on a Monday at 11am.  My husband came with me.  My 2 year old daughter stayed with my mother in law.  I got put into a private room.  I settled in and put my clothes in the drawers and met the nurse.  Shortly after my husband and I ordered lunch from the hosp cafeteria.  The food was OK...nothing special...it's hosp food!  Then my husband left to go pick up our daughter to come back and visit for the rest of the night and eat dinner together.  While he was gone I the nurse informed me that I had to go do a Doppler of the babies brain and cords.  There was a wheel chair waiting for me to take me to the ultrasound room.  They wheeled me there then I waited for 10 min in the chair then the ultrasound tech came and did the Doppler which took about 45 min.  Then I waited 15 min to get wheeled back to my room.  Being wheeled in a wheelchair was very awkward!  Then an hour later the nurse came in to take my blood for blood count, type and one other thing but I forgot.  Then she hooked up my belly to listen to both of the babies heartbeats for 20 min.  Baby A was easy to find but Baby B we couldn't find for a good ten min lol.  Then Jimmy and Ella showed up.  How I missed my princess!!  We ate Little Caesars and hung out.  Then at 8pm visitors had to go home.  This was the hardest part of my day!!  I cried when my baby left!  I don't know how I am going to make it in here 2 months!!  After they left I could've cried for a good hour but I grew strong and only let a couple tears flow.  Then a new nurse came in and introduced herself.  She took my temperature and blood pressure which was a little high.  She wrote my twins names on the board...I liked that!  Then she said here is your steroid shot, I have to put it in a big muscle so it had to go in the side of my butt cheek.  The poke didn't hurt so bad but the liquid itself stung going in.  Here I am now at 9:10.  I am tired and probably going to go to bed around 10pm.  I have to wear these leg things to bed to prevent blood clots.  I don't know how to put or turn them on so I'll have to ask the nurse.  Well I guess that's all for now.  SD.  So from 10 to 11:30pm  I tried to sleep but I couldn't.  Tossed and Turned and heard the nurses talking outside my door.  I need my pillow from home cause these pillows are just not cutting it for me.  I also need my fan for white noise to drown out the nurses talking.  Then at around midnight a nurse came in to take my vital signs (temperature and BP).  Then shortly after a Dr came in to do a Doppler/ultrasound because he said that the Doppler the tech took earlier couldn't get some pics because the babies kept moving.  He said they are looking very well and he only sees two lose twists in their cord which is excellent!  :)  I have no doubt in my mind that these babies will be born at 32 weeks or after!  Then I got  to try and sleep around 1am to 5:45am which is when the nurse woke me up.  I got some sleep but tossed and turned and went to the bathroom countless times!  At 5:45 the nurse took my vital signs again, then hooked the heart monitor up to my belly to hear the babies heart beats for an hour.  While that was going on my Dr (Dr Goyert) came to see me around 6:15 and basically told me what I already knew about the babies are doing really well and a planned c-section at 32 weeks.  He gave me his card and cell number and said to call anytime.  He said the staff here is excellent and I will be working with a whole lot of people.  He said I'm the celebrity on the floor because of my momo twins lol.  So then around 7:15 I tried to go back to sleep and I did for about an hour cause again the nurse woke me to ask me if I wanted to order breakfast.  I said can I order later and she said as long as you order by 10am.   So around 8:30 I decided to get up and order breakfast, opened the shade and turn the TV on to start my day.  A shower is in order today for sure and a visit from my parents and sister later as well as my hubby and daughter.  How am I going to make it through to 2 months!!  I know I can do it, it's just tedious.

Not One but Two Miracles!

My husband and I found out we were having identical twin girls on my 18w6d ultrasound.  We were ecstatic about having twins girls!  Then we found out they were one of the rarest kinds of twins...Monoamniatic Monochorionic Twins.  We had no idea what that meant so of course we went home and found out as much info on the Internet as possible about this type of twinning.  Monoamniatic Monochorionic means they are identical twins who share a placenta and are in the same sac together.  They each have their own umbilical cords.  For short MoMo twins develop when an embryo does not split until after 9 days after fertilization.  MoMo twins are about 1% of twin pregnancies.  We then shortly learned the complications of the twins.  Cord entanglement and cord compression are the two major complications.  Being that the twins are in the same sac with no membrane separating them the float around in the fluid and their cords become tangled which can ultimately cause the one cord to become compressed potentially stopping the flow of nutrients and blood to one twin resulting in fetal death.  The other complication is Twin-to-twin-transfusion syndrome.  One twin may receive the majority of the nourishment causing the other twin to become undernourished.  Once we found out all of this info it scared us.  Our two precious miracles could be taken from us at any moment.  We just had to think positive and take all the necessary precautions.  My Ob said due to them being MoMo twins they would have to be delivered early around 32 - 34 weeks.  They will be born preemie babies and have to be in the NICU for a couple weeks/months.  My Ob referred me to a specialist who deals with high risk pregnancies.  The Perinatologist did a 2 hour detailed ultrasound.  So far at 23 weeks the babies were looking good.  Both weighing 1 pound 5 ounces.  I was then informed I needed to start inpatient at the hospital at 24 weeks until I deliver the twins c-section at 32 weeks if all goes well.  So here I am at 23w3d nervous and sad about leaving my 2 year old daughter for 2 months while being inpatient but happy and thankful that my twins will be monitored 24/7 in case anything goes wrong and need to be delivered.  I haven't even started to pack so I better get on that.  I just can't wait until this is all a distant memory and I have my beautiful healthy twins in my arms and at home with my 2 year old daughter.
